The Road Theatre Company to Present World Premiere of THE DIFFERENT SHADES OF HUGH, Begin. 1/21

THE ROAD THEATRE COMPANY and Taylor Gilbert, Founder/Artistic Director together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director, are thrilled to announce the second show of its 2013-2014 and 23rd season, the World Premiere of THE DIFFERENT SHADES OF HUGH, written by Clete Keith and directed by Road Theatre's Co-Artistic Director Sam Anderson. THE DIFFERENT SHADES OF HUGH will preview on Tuesday, January 21 & Thursday, January 23 at 8pm and will open on Friday, January 24 at 8pm and run through Saturday, March 15 at the Road Theatre Company's new second home, the Road on Magnolia, located in The NoHo Senior Arts Colony, 10747 Magnolia Blvd. in North Hollywood.

THE DIFFERENT SHADES OF HUGH explores the very personal world of an artist's creative process. Each artist is unique, but is there ever a time when that process should be altered? And does anyone have the right to try and impose that change morally, ethically, or personally?

CLETE KEITH (Playwright) began his entertainment career at age 17 in Repertory Theater. He was involved in over 50 plays. His performance of "Willam," in the play "THE WILLIAM," won him the Drama Logue Award for Best Actor. In the 18 years he spent at the Stable Theater in Hollywood, Clete sharpened his skills not only as an actor, but as a writer and director. "DEAD SILENCE," his first film in which he wrote and starred, was a finalist in the Santa Barbara Film Festival. He then wrote and starred in the film titled "THE FOOL, a finalist at both the Palm Springs Short Film Festival and the Hollywood Film Festival and was rated one of the top 5 most watched short films on the Sci-Fi channel. Clete wrote, starred in and directed the film "INSTANT TRAUMA" which won "Best Mockumentary" at the New York International Film and Video Festival and was highlighted at the Nashville Film Festival. Clete's film "3 DAYS BLIND" won the 2009 Best Comedy Feature in the Toronto World of Comedy International Film Festival. In late 2011, Clete completed "THE DIFFERENT SHADES OF HUGH." Family background: Grandfather was Hugh Bennett (director/editor). Father was Byron Keith (actor). Mother was Dorothy Bennett (actress). Brother is Christopher Keith (producer/editor). Sister is Kacey Daly (married to actor/writer Jonathan Daly).

Sam Anderson (Director) is Artistic Director of the Road Theatre Co., a position he shares with founder Taylor Gilbert. As an actor, he has appeared at the Road in "The Bird and Mr. Banks," (LA Drama Critics Circle Award, Best Actor), "Napoli Millionaria" (Ovation Award, Best Actor) and "Madagascar." He won his second LADCC Best Actor Award for "Blackbird" at Rogue Machine, along with an LA Weekly Award for Best Duo Performance. Road directing credits include Theresa Rebeck's "The Water's Edge," Stacy Sims' "As White As O," and "Shove" by Mark Eisman (LA Weekly Directing Nomination.) Film and television audiences know him from 35 years of performances, including his recent recurring turn as the evil Lee Paxton on "Justified," Bernard on "Lost," Dr. Kaysen on "E.R." (SAG Award, Best Ensemble), Holland Manners on "Angel," and the films "Water for Elephants," "Forrest Gump,""La Bamba", "Frankie Go Boom," "Breaking the Girls" and the recently released horror thriller from Fox, "Devil's Due."

Sam holds an MA in American Lit/Creative Writing, as well as his theatre degrees. He teaches a professional acting class combining scene study, improv, monologues and audition technique. He is also a graduate of The Grantsmanship Institute and studied Horticulture at Descanso Gardens. He is most proud of his 21-year old twin theatre majors, Elizabeth and Ben.

The cast of THE DIFFERENT SHADES OF HUGH features: Coronado Romero as Hugh, Whitney Dylan as Diane, Ellie Jameson as Maris, Stephan Smith Collins as Michael, Tom Musgrave as Paul and Zachary Mooren as Vincent.

THE DIFFERENT SHADES OF HUGH features an award-winning design team. The Scenic and Projection Design is by Adam Flemming. The Lighting Design is by Jeremy Pivnick. The Costume Design is by Jocelyn Hublau. The Sound Design is by David B. Marling. THE DIFFERENT SHADES OF HUGH is being produced by Craig Berenson, Suzanne Hunt and Bettina Zacar.

THE DIFFERENT SHADES OF HUGH will preview on Tuesday, January 21 & Thursday, January 23 at 8pm and will open on Friday, January 24 at 8pm and run through Saturday, March 15 at the Road Theatre Company's new second home, the Road on Magnolia, located in The NoHo Senior Arts Colony, 10747 Magnolia Blvd. in North Hollywood.
