Stage & Screen Vet Harold Gould Dies at 86

Veteran of stage and screen Harold Gould passed away at the age of 86 on Saturday, September 11. According the the New York Times, Gould passed away at his home in Woodland Hills California after a losing battle with prostate cancer.

Gould was best known for playing Martin Morgenstern in the 1970s sitcoms Rhoda and The Mary Tyler Moore Show and as Miles Webber on The Golden Girls. Gould acted in film and television for nearly 50 years, appearing in more than 300 television shows, 20 major motion pictures, and over 100 stage plays, and received Emmy Award nominations five times.

In addition to originating the role of Artie Shaughnessy in John Guare's "House of Blue Leaves" off Broadway in 1971, he appeared on Broadway in Mixed Emotions, Artist Descending a Staircase, Grown Ups, and Fools.

Gould is survived by wife, Lea, a daughter Deborah, sons Joshua and Lowell, and five grandchildren.
