Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre presents Murder Abbey, a solo costume drama parody written and performed by brigade member, Kate Hess (Children's Hospital). Murder Abbey premieres at UCB-LA at 5919 Franklin Avenue on Thursday August 9th at 8:00 pm and continues on September 6th at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $5 and reservations can be made at http://losangeles.ucbtheatre.com or by calling 323-908-8702.

Set in a grand Downton Abbey-like English estate in the roaring twenties, in Murder Abbey Kate Hess gleefully deconstructs favorite Masterpiece Theatre conventions with her smart and irreverent characters-- all while solving an Agatha Christie-style murder mystery. Fans of Masterpiece Theatre will delight in her fresh satirical take on familiar archetypes; from a scullery maid who would rather be murdered than neglect her duties, to Miss Beecher, the nosy old lady detective who just wants to get laid ONCE before she dies.

Kate Hess (Writer & Performer) recently relocated from New York, where she was featured in the New York Times as a performer with the UCB Maude team Neighbor Boy. At UCB-NY she wrote and starred in two sketch shows, "The Palin Family All Star Revue & Election Spectacular" and "We Kate Shelly", which Time Out NY called "silly, adroit, and unique all at once." She has appeared in "Law & Order: SVU", "Love, Inc", and on the web-series like "Childrens Hospital".

Andrew Secunda (Director) was a writer on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" for which he won two Writers Guild Awards and was nominated for two Emmys. He has written for Saturday Night Live's TV Funhouse , Human Giant, and Night of Too Many Stars, for which he received his third Emmy nomination. At UCB he co founded improv supergroup The Swarm, and performs regularly at ASSSSCAT. As an actor he has appeared in "The Office", "Our Idiot Brother", "The Other Guys", and "The Flight of the Conchords".
