A special theatre event is happening this Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at the Los Angeles High School for the Arts (LACHSA) called "Simply Josefina!" directed by Corky Dominguez. This event will be the inaugural theatrical event presented in the LACHSA's brand new theatre called Caroline's L.O.F.T. The event is honoring playwright Josefina López ("Real Women Have Curves") with LACHSA students performing in presentations of her one-act plays, "Food For The Dead" and "Detained in the Desert," the later of which López just completed as a feature film.

Josefina López will attend the 7:30 p.m. performance on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at which time she will be honored by LACHSA as a distinguished alumna who graduated in the high school's first class. An award will be presented by LACHSA Principal, George Simpson to Josefina López at that performance for her accomplishments in the entertainment field. In addition, Gloria Molina, Supervisor, First District County of Los Angeles will present Josefina López with a proclamation from the City of Los Angeles.

Others who will be in attendance at the 7:30 p.m. performance on April 6th will include: actor Carey Fox, the star of the play and film versions of "Detained in the Desert;" Iliana Sosa, the director of the new film, "Detained in the Desert," Enrique Morones, President and Founder of Border Angels and the inspiration for the play and film, "Detained in the Desert," Miguel Garcia, Producer of the Brown and Out Theater Festival at Casa 0101 Theater and Emmanuel Deleage, Executive Director of Casa 0101 Theater, where his wife, Josefina López serves as Artistic Director.
