Coyote Stageworks Named BEST LIVE THEATRE 2014 In 'Best Of The Valley' Readers Poll

Coyote StageWorks, an Actors' Equity professional theater company, is pleased to announce it has been named "Best Live Theater 2014" in the 21st annual Desert Magazine 'Best of the Valley" contest. Winners of the popular poll, which is conducted among readers of the publication and mydesert.com, were announced yesterday.

Coyote StageWorks has offered numerous award-winning performances to a rapidly growing and enthusiastic theater community since 2009. Recently garnering fifteen Desert Star Awards from the Desert Theatre League for its 2013 season, the company also won the "Best Live Theater" award in last year's 'Best of the Valley' poll.

"We are so honored and amazed to have won this award for the second year in a row," exclaimed Chuck Yates, Founding Artistic Director of Coyote StageWorks. "We're extremely grateful to the Coachella Valley for supporting our small but mighty theater company, and for once again naming us 'Best Live Theater' in the desert."

Presented at the Annenberg Theater in the Palm Springs Art Museum, Coyote StageWorks performances take place at 7:30 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Wednesday evenings, and matinees are held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons. A post-performance Q&A with the cast follows each Thursday matinee. The 2014 season includes:

The Man Who Came to Dinner
Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 6:00 pm

One-night-only benefit with a huge roster of stars, this classic comedy is sure to delight desert audiences. Written by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, The Man Who Came to Dinner opened on Broadway 75 years ago - a perfect fit for the Palm Springs Art Museum's 75th Anniversary. The play was most recently revived on Broadway in 2000 with Nathan Lane in the role of SheriDan Whiteside.

Tickets for the benefit are $75 and $125 per person for performance only; $250 and $500 per person tickets include VIP cast reception following performance.

The Andrews Brothers: A Madcap Musical Salute to the Swinging '40s
January 24 - February 16, 2014

A USO show is threatened with cancellation when a certain famous trio of singing sisters fails to show, and it's up to three earnest and determined stagehands to go on with the show! From Roger Bean, creator of "The Marvelous Wonderettes," The Andrews Brothers is filled to the brim with over 25 songs made famous by the Andrews Sisters. Mistaken identities and madcap adventures, along with the music of an entire generation highlight this wonderful valentine to the heroes of World War II.

The 39 Steps
February 28 - March 9, 2014

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! A man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who says she's a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered. Soon, a mysterious organization called "The 39 Steps" is hot on the man's trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a death-defying finale!

Love, Loss and What I Wore
March 28 - April 6, 2014

Proving that a great show is always in fashion, Love, Loss, and What I Wore has become an international hit. An intimate collection of stories by Nora and Delia Ephron, it is based on the best seller by Ilene Beckerman as well as the recollections of the Ephrons' friends. The show uses clothing and accessories and the memories they trigger to tell funny and often poignant stories that all women can relate to, creating one of the most enduring theatergoing experiences domestically and overseas.

Coyote StageWorks is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) company dedicated to advancing theatre as a vital art form in the desert communities of the Coachella Valley. It is their mission to provide a forum for thought-provoking, entertaining, and culturally significant works in an environment that nurtures the creativity of the individual and the enrichment of the community.
