Director Edward A. Brennan has announced that casting is complete and rehearsals have begun for Bernard Slade's "An Act of the Imagination," the Hampton Theatre Company's third production of the 2016-2017 season. The edge-of-your-seat suspense filled mystery opens on March 23 at the Quogue Community Hall and will run through April 9.

The HTC has also announced that Terry Brennan, most recently the box office and group sales manager for CM Performing Arts Center in Oakdale, has been named the new General Manager for the company.

In "An Act of the Imagination," the mystery writer Arthur Putnam has created his first romance after 27 whodunits, prompting a number of puzzling questions. Has he fizzled out after years of hatching tricky crimes? Does he want his wife, Julia, to know he is a philanderer? Is he letting her know that he understands she is cheating? Or is he testing the first draft of what could be his most chilling, and deadly, work?

For the HTC production, the role of Arthur Putnam will be played by Matthew Conlon. Playing Putnam's friend, Detective Sergeant Fred Burchitt, will be James M. Lotito Jr. The other characters caught up in the mystery-variously potential victims or perpetrators, or both-include Putnam's wife, Julia Putnam (Rebecca Edana); his son from a previous marriage, Simon (Jesse Pimpinella); his editor, Holly Adams (Amanda Griemsmann); and two strangers to the household, Brenda Simmons (Meggie Doyle) and Brooke Carmichael (Cesa Pledger).

The HTC's new general manager, Terry Brennan, brings a wealth of experience to the post. In addition to her work at CM Performing Arts Center in group sales, marketing, subscriptions, and box office management, among other duties, Ms. Brennan and her husband Ed (HTC board member and a director and performer for the company) ran Airport Playhouse in Bohemia for six years.

Her love of theater began at age 6 with her first role on stage. Her theatrical experience ranges from all behind the scenes work-in costumes, lighting, sound, props and set design-to stage related work as a producer, director and performer, to administrative tasks in marketing, ticket sales, advertising, and customer service. She honed her excellent guest service skills from 1989 to 2014 as a management team member for several Disney Store locations.

"An Act of the Imagination" runs at the Quogue Community Hall from March 23 to April 9, 2017 with shows on Thursdays and Fridays at 7, Saturdays at 8 and Sundays at 2:30. There will also be an additional matinee performance of "An Act of the Imagination" on Saturday, April 8, at 2:30 p.m.

Complete details on the production will be announced soon. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit hamptontheatre.org or call Ovation Tix at 1-866-811-4111.
