Long Island Musical Theatre Festival to Present THE DROWSY CHAPERONE; Performances Set for 8/1-2

The Long Island Musical Theatre Festival is a non-profit program dedicated to producing a full-length musical with a professional orchestra in two weeks. During that time, students receive training from industry professionals while being surrounded by peers who share the same passion and skill set. Students will have the opportunity to work with a Broadway guest artist, discuss resume building, and learn audition techniques.

This summer, we will be producing The Drowsy Chaperone, featuring master classes with Tony award winner, Beth Leavel, Broadway's original Drowsy Chaperone and two-time Tony award winning costume designer, Gregg Barnes.

The program will take place at Walt Whitman High School in South Huntington on weekdays from July 21-August 2 from 10 am - 6 pm. Performances will be on August 1 at 8pm and August 2 at 3pm.

If you are between the ages of 14 - 22 and are serious about musical theatre, become a part of this unique experience and request an audition by emailing steven@rexarts.org. To audition, candidates need to prepare a song from the show as well as a contrasting song of their choice. Tuition is $800 for a maximum of 30 participants.

During last year's summer production of The Secret Garden, students had the privilege of working with the original Tony nominated director, Ms. Susan H. Schulman, whose Broadway credits also include Sweeney Todd, The Sound of Music, and Little Women.
