The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity, by Kristoffer Diaz and directed by Kate St-Pierre, runs at Cockroach Theatre Company October 13 - 30, 2016.

A "delicious crackle and pop of a galloping, honest-to-God, all-American satire" (The New York Times), The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity explores the larger-than-life world of professional wrestling. Macedonio "Mace" Guerra has been the fall-guy for the largest wrestling company in the world, losing again and again to the impossibly charismatic champ, Chad Deity. When Mace discovers a young Indian-American Brooklyn kid whose charisma rivals that of the champ, Mace decides to get him a job in the company. Only problem is, the boss has a very specific and unexpected plan for the duo. Chad Diety is a maze of vivid descriptions and clever linguistic acrobatics. A satire with a poignant take on American culture, this action-packed, language-heavy satire will bring the audience to realize that behind every winner lies the story of a great loser.

The Pulitzer Prize finalist slams together thrilling spectacle, incredible characters and geopolitical allegory into an invigorating theatrical experience you can't find on pay-per-view. A smack-down of a play, by Kristoffer Diaz, The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity tackles racism, drop-kicks globalization and brings this championship tale onto center stage as the season opener for Cockroach Theatre in Art Square on October 13, 2016.
