KVPAC Offers Free College Audition Workshop 9/1

The College of Santa Fe in conjunction with Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center is offering a free workshop on college auditions and you are invited to attend. "AUDITION 101" will help you feel more prepared as you consider college auditions this year. Reservations are required if you plan to attend. BRING A PREPARED MONOLOGUE.

WHAT: Students will focus on a College audition situation. They will learn how to choose the right monologue, review basic DO's and DON'TS of auditioning, work on a prepared monologue to learn rehearsal techniques that will make their audition stand out in a "cattle call" situation.
WHO: All High School Juniors and Seniors who plan to audition for Performing Arts programs this year.
WHEN: Wednesday, September 1st from 4pm - 6:30pm

About the Instructor: Lisa Hamilton, BFA, MFA has been working professionally in the theatre for over 20 years. Since graduating with her BFA in Acting from The College of Santa Fe in 1988, Lisa worked at the Alley Theatre in Houston,TX in the Young Company and the Resident Company. She played Mistress Overdone in Gregory Boyd's inaugural production of Measure for Measure and went on to play Antionette in A Flea in her Ear, and Belle in A Christmas Carol . During her stay at the Alley she also worked as Casting Coordinator under Michael Wilson and did local casting for such directors as Jose Quintero, Gregory Boyd, Anne Bogart, Robert Wilson and Edward Albee. Lisa achieved her MFA in directing at Louisiana State University where she served as Executive Director for Swine Palace Productions under the direction of Royal Shakespeare Company lifelong director, Barry Kyle. She directed professionally for 3 years before accepting the position of Executive Director for the Arts Alliance Center at Clear Lake in Houston, TX. Now, Lisa works for the College of Santa Fe as a Field Representative and talent scout. She also performs a one-woman show based on Joni Rogers New York Times Bestseller Bald in the Land of Big Hair which speaks to the experience of a woman having cancer in Texas.
