Singer Kevin Dozier announced today that the final performance of his cabaret show "TAKE ME TO THE WORLD" on Tuesday, October 19 at 7 PM at The Laurie Beechman Theatre at West Bank Café, 407 West 42nd Street, will be a benefit for the American Cancer Society's HOPE LODGE NYC. On October 19th there will be no cover charge (normally $20). Instead, Kevin will donate $20 to HOPE LODGE for each person who attends that night. Kevin, who is a Divisional Vice President at COACH/Reed Krakoff, has asked COACH to participate in the benefit evening as part of their "Coach Matching Gift Program". COACH will not only match but double Kevin's contribution for the first 45 people, thus raising $60 per attendee for HOPE LODGE that night.

The evening, directed by Lennie Watts, includes songs by Maltby and Shire, Jones and Schmidt, Irving Berlin, Jerry Herman, Lerner and Loewe, Stephen Sondheim, Noel Coward, Ervin Drake, Rusty Magee, Alex Rybeck and others. Kevin debuted "Take Me to the World" at Feinstein's earlier this year to universal raves. Kevin will be joined by Musical Director Alex Rybeck at the piano with Jered Egan on Bass and John Redsecker on drums. While the $20 cover is waived on October 19, there is a $15 food/beverage minimum, with a full dinner menu available. Reservations are strongly advised: (212) 695-6909

Kevin made his critically acclaimed NYC cabaret debut at Don't Tell Mama in June, 2008, followed by two successful runs at The Metropolitan Room (October 2008 and 2009) and Feinstein's in 2010. He was a 2009 MAC Award nominee for "Best Male Debut Performance" and was named "Male Cabaret Performer of the Year" in the San Francisco Cabaret Competition.

In New York Kevin has performed at Feinstein's, The Metropolitan Room, Don't Tell Mama, The Laurie Beechman Theater, The National Arts Club, and was a featured performer at The Mabel Mercer Foundation's 20th and 21st Annual Cabaret Conventions at Lincoln Center. He also performed in San Francisco for 10 years, headlining at The Plush Room, and performed at the San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center

Kevin's highly acclaimed debut album, "Love-Wise", (now available on iTunes) was included on many of 2009's Top Album lists including Talkin'Broadway.com's Top 10 Vocal Albums of 2009. Produced and arranged by Christopher Marlowe, "Love-Wise" features love songs from the Great American Songbook by writers ranging from Rodgers and Hammerstein, Michel Legrand and Marilyn & Alan Bergman, to Tom Andersen and Ian Herman.

ABOUT THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY'S HOPE LODGE NYC:
Facing cancer is one of life's greatest challenges. Finding an affordable, supportive place to stay during treatment shouldn't be. That's why the American Cancer Society created Hope Lodge - a place providing free temporary lodging and support for cancer patients and their caregivers while undergoing treatment.

More than a place to stay, Hope Lodges provide a home-like environment for encouragement and healing while reducing both financial and emotional burdens-eliminating obstacles to the best possible treatment when the only consideration cancer patients should be facing is whether the care selected will optimize survival and quality of life.

Nationwide, there are 28 Hope Lodges in existence and many more are planned. Every Hope Lodge has its own unique atmosphere consistent with local geography and culture, but all share common core values of connection, compassion, and comfort.

Hope Lodge guests stay in private bedrooms with private bathrooms and share communal kitchens, laundry facilities, libraries, and other gathering places. Some locations also offer wellness programs where guests can learn about nutrition, exercise, meditation, and other healthy practices, as well as special events like movie or game nights and visits from supporters in the community.
