Emily Bergl, best known for her role on TV shows such as "Desperate Housewives" and Broadway, brings her signature nouveau cabaret style to San Francisco with "Until the Real Thing Comes Along." Directed by Sarna Lapine (War Horse, Sondheim on Sondheim, South Pacific), and musical directed by Jonathan Mastro, "Until the Real Thing Comes Along," exposes the lengths we go to in our search for love and what we do to when we don't find it, or even more frightening, when we do. In her signature nouveau cabaret style, Bergl uses the past to illuminate the present, blending together Irving Berlin with Blondie, Rodgers and Hammerstein with Tracey Chapman, and even Noel Coward with Britney Spears. Audiences are treated not only to an evening of diverse songs, but a full cast of characters all personified by this veteran Broadway actress. For anyone looking for an evening of song that's heartbreaking, droll, and a little dangerous, this is your cabaret.
