Alan Rickman to Play CBGB's Hilly Krystal in Upcoming Film

According to Billboard.com, Alan Rickman will play Hilly Krystal, founder and owner of New York rock club CBGB, in Jody Savin and Randall Miller's upcoming film.

Hilly Krystal pioneered an effort to create a country, bluegrass and blues music venue in 1970s New York City. CBGB eventually welcomed and launched the careers of many acclaimed rock and punk bands, including The Ramones.

Miller and Savin wrote the script and Miller is set to direct, with filming to begin in June, 2012.

Rickman recently appeared in Seminar on Broadway and is known for playing the role of Snape in the Harry Potter films.
