The Gregg Allman biopic MIDNIGHT RIDER was forced to suspend production until June following the death of second camera assistant Sarah Jones in a train accident on-set on February 20. The project was scheduled to begin filming on February 28, 2014, and now the man at the center of the film, rocker Gregg Allman, is suing producers at Unclaimed Freight, saying the Formal Option Agreement with director Randall Miller's company expired when principal production did not begin on time.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that All-American Rejects' frontman Tyson Ritter has been cast in the role of Gregg Allman for Randall Miller and Jody Savin's film adaptation of Gregg's memoir MY CROSS TO BEAR. The pic's working title is MIDNIGHT RIDER. Ritter joins Wyatt Russell, who is set to portray Gregg's brother Duane Allman.
A new musical based on the 2008 movie Bottle Shock is now in development as part of the Ars Nova Uncharted program by writers James D. Sasser and Charles Vincent Burwell. Director Kent Nicholson helms the process.
