Karina Gauvin Withdraws from Performance at Le Festival de Lanaudière Due to Health Reasons; Tony Yike Yang Replaces

Le Festival de Lanaudière regrets to announce that, for reasons of health, soprano Karina Gauvin will be unable to perform as scheduled on Friday, July 22 at 8 p.m. In her place, pianist Tony Yike Yang will play Chopin's Concerto No. 1 in E minor, accompanied by the Orchestre Métropolitain and conductor Mathieu Lussier.

Remaining concerts for the third week will take place as previously announced:

A film by François Girard on the giant screen!
On Saturday, July 23 at 8 p.m., come see and hear on the giant screen the film The Red Violin by François Girard with John Corigliano's sumptuous music played on stage by Canadian violinist Lara St. John with full-size string orchestra.

The Royal 22nd Regiment will be back on Sunday, July 24 at 2 p.m. with resounding trumpets and drums on the Amphithéâtre Fernand-Lindsay stage along with virtuoso violinist Alexandre DaCosta.

CHURCH CONCERTS
On Monday, July 25 at 8 p.m. at the church in Lavaltrie, American pianist George Li, Silver Medalist at the 2015 Tchaikovsky International Competition and first prize winner at the 2014 Grand Prix Animato International Competition in Paris, makes his Festival debut with works by Haydn, Chopin, Liszt and Rachmaninoff.

The next evening, Tuesday, July 26 at 8 p.m., at the church in Saint-Sulpice, first prize winner at the 2008 Montreal International Musical Competition, Armenian-born Nareh Arghamanyan, will be with us for a performance of Bach'sGoldberg Variations.
