Indie Pop Aces Sky-Pony to Hit the Stage at The Sheen Center This Winter

On Saturday January 28, cult-hit Brooklyn rockers Sky-Pony will hit the stage at The Sheen Center as part of its Convergences series.

Led by Tony nominee Lauren Worsham (Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder) and her husband, Obie winning songwriter Kyle Jarrow, Sky-Pony's theatrical roots shine through in its lush, cheeky sound. The band has been called "indie pop aces" by The New York Times and "a beautiful mash-up of music, choreography, costumes, projections and drama" by The Village Voice. They've built a cult following for their highly-theatrical live shows.

On Saturday January 28, they'll appear live at Sheen Center's Loreto Theater (18 Bleecker St, NYC). The show will feature special guests Nimbus Dance Works - performing a short dance piece scored by Sky-Pony - as well as the West Village Chorale - providing forty-person chorale backup for the band!

The show begins at 7:30, and tickets range from $22-45. Sky-Pony's share of the proceeds will be donated to the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU). Advance tickets at sheencenter.org/shows/convergences-indie-artists-series-sky-pony.

Last year, the band released their debut LP Beautiful Monster on Knitting Factory Records, to glowing reviews. This past spring they premiered their rock-theater hybrid piece The Wildness, presented by Ars Nova in collaboration with The Play Company. That too receivEd Strong reviews, and the show was nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical. They just recently headlined the Park Avenue Armory Gala with Patti LuPone. Alongside Worsham and Jarrow, the Sky-Pony lineup also features David Blasher (cello), Eric Day (bass), Kevin Wunderlich (guitar), Perry Silver (drums) plus Kristin Piacentile & Sharone Sayegh (backup vocals).
