Testa Dura Media, LLC, has launched an IndieGoGo campaign for the comedy, Lobster fra Diavolo, starring legendary Broadway/Film/TV comedienne Kaye Ballard as "Nonna," and written/produced by Jane Barbara and actor/producer, Oriana Oppice.

Based on true events, the film follows granddaughter Angie, a vegan, who [reluctantly] purchases the live lobster Nonna needs to prepare a traditional Italian dish for the Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve. Despite her personal beliefs, Angie knows not to mess with no-nonsense Nonna. Nonna, however, meets her match when the lobster has other ideas about ending up as the main ingredient in her pasta course. Though the film is a comedy, it examines the tension between retaining family traditions and accepting changing social attitudes.

The producers are using crowd-funding, along with approaching foundations and corporations, to raise the required funds. Lobster fra Diavolo was recently selected by 501(c)(3) From the Heart Productions, an organization that supports women filmmakers, for fiscal sponsorship. Any contributions for the film are thus tax deductible. The film will incorporate live action video and animation to bring Mr. Lobster to life.

The film is scheduled to be shot in Rancho Mirage, CA, and the Washington, DC, Metro area over the next few months.

Jane Barbara has written and produced numerous feature-length and short films and is currently the Vice President of Women in Film and TV in Washington, DC. Oriana Oppice is a New York-based actor, producer, and director. The IndieGoGo campaign page and additional information about the film can be found at http://igg.me/at/lobsterfradiavolo/x/4484950.
