NJ PAC Features Dance Performances in February
The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) is the place for dance in the month of February. Located in Newark's downtown arts district, NJPAC is the sixth largest performing arts center in the United States. As a premiere venue they present a vast variety of performances that are sure to please area dance enthusiasts. The theater is easily accessible by car, bus, or train.
On Friday evening, February 1st, the State Russian Ballet Theater, a favorite of NJ PAC audiences for more than five years, will be performing Cinderella at 7:30 pm. Cinderella will come to life when the full corps de ballet and company of 50 performers take the stage. The ballet is choreographed by the one-time Bolshoi star, Vladimir Vasiliev.
Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company
The Year of the Serpent will be celebrated by the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company on Saturday February 9th at 2:00pm and Sunday February 10th at 2:00pm. The dances of Nai-Ni Chen fuse the dynamic freedom of American modern dance with the grace and splendor of Asian art. The company's productions take the audience beyond cultural boundaries to where tradition meets innovation and freedom arises from discipline.
New Jersey Moves
On Saturday, February 23rd at 7:30 pm, New Jersey Moves, an eclectic program of works from the state's finest dance troupes, will have its season's first installment at NJPAC. Now in its second year, New Jersey Moves will offer performances throughout February by SoulJerz Dance Entertainment, Lustig Dance Theatre, New Jersey Ballet, Claire Porter, 10 Hairy Legs, and Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company. New Jersey Moves is always an audience favorite and will continue through the spring.
David Rodriguez, Executive Producer of NJ PAC, said "Dance has always been integral to the mission and programmatic vision of NJPAC." He is eager to have NJ PAC focus on the diversity of the artists and the audiences interested in seeing them. And with such a variety of selections, NJ PAC audiences are sure to be delighted with February's performances.
