Sandra Prinsloo in OSKAR
EN DIE PIENK TANNIE

The doyenne of South African theatre, Sandra Prinsloo, will play the Montecasino Studio Theatre in OSKAR EN DIE PIENK TANNIE this September . The production is directed by Lara Bye.

OSKAR EN DIE PIENK TANNIE is a story about a 10-year-old boy who is terminally ill, in which Prinsloo delivers a performance that tugs on the heartstrings , but also one that communicates delicate insights about adults , love, hormones , God and death.

Crowned with KKNK Kanna Awards for Best Production, Best Direction and Best Actress, OSKAR EN DIE PIENK TANNIE is Naòmi Morgan's Afrikaans adaptation of the novella OSCAR ET LA DAME ROSE by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt.

BroadwayWorld South Africa's review of Prinsloo in the 2014 English version of the play read:

(By the end of the play,) the audience had spent some time with a little boy called Oscar; Granny Rose, a volunteer who works in the ward where Oscar is living out the last days of his life after a failed bone marrow transplant, and who may or may not be a retired wrestling champion; Oscar's doctor, nurses and parents; and a host of other children with various other serious conditions. The wonderful thing is that all of them are brought to life by Ms Prinsloo in this 75-minute play, in a tour de force performance that is proof, if any were needed at this time in her career, that she is one of this country's greatest actresses.

Running until 25 Setpember, with tickets costing R130 - R165, OSKAR EN DIE PIENK TANNIE runs from Wednesdays through Saturdays at 20:00, with matinees on Saturdays at 16:00 and Sundays at 15:00. Bookings are through Computicket.
