GODSPELL is a pop-rock re-imagining of the gospel according to St.Matthew. GODSPELL was the first production ever presented by Pinole Community Players back in 1986. That production was directed by David Clark, with musical direction by Nancy Gill, technical direction by Gary Gill, and was produced by Patti Clark. These four individuals are in fact the founders of Pinole Community Players. A 10th Anniversary production was presented in 1996, directed by original cast member Mark Patino, with Nancy Gill returning as musical director, Patti Clark as producer, and David Clark and Gary Gill as Production Consultants.

This latest production (which is based on the hit 2012 Broadway revival) is a celebration of 30 years of community theater in Pinole. It's director, G.A. Klein was a member of the 10th Anniversary cast and is thrilled to carry on with the tradition of quality live, family-friendly theater in the city of Pinole.
