It's the most wonderful time of the year at The Woodruff Arts Center! This holiday season is filled with time-honored traditions such as A Christmas Carol at the ALLIANCE THEATRE, a new and exciting Family Holiday Special concert at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Friday Jazz at the High Museum of Art and a special CREATE ATL holiday-themed Free Family Festival. ALLIANCE THEATRE's Broadway-scale production of A Christmas Carol is a can't-miss event that will leave lasting holiday memories for those who are seeing the show again or for the very first time. For those ready to begin the festivities early, A Christmas Carol will open on the Alliance Stage in November for the 27th year in a row! Looking to spice up your holiday traditions at the theatre? Courtenay's Cabaret: Home for the Holidays features a live band with Atlanta favorite Courtenay Collins singing holiday classics and new favorites with the wit and Southern charm that has won her fans from Atlanta to New York City. The production crew has even added an on-stage bar for those who can't miss a moment of the show! The holidays are a perfect time to experience the music and talent of the Grammy® Award-winning Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.A Family Holiday Special is the quintessential holiday sing-along with Christmas classics for the whole family. Dance along to music from TheNutcracker, join in the sing-along and have a holly jolly Christmas with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Rumor has it that Santa will even make an appearance! Please note that this is a popular, ticketed event taking place during the CREATE ATL Free Family Festival; pre-register for the Festival and tickets for free online at woodruffcreateATL.org. The holiday celebrations get even merrier in December -Christmas with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will feature everyone's favorite Christmas carols and hymns sung by the Chorus and special guests, the Gwinnett Young Singers. The High Museum of Art's December happenings entertain and inspire visitors to create their own masterpieces this holiday season. The High's monthly First Fridays will include a handmade wrapping paper workshop, gingerbread houses designed by Atlanta artists, holiday karaoke and more! Friday Jazz in the Atrium will feature the sounds of renowned saxophonist, composer, and educator Dr. Dwight Andrews. On December 11, the High offers free admission to all guests for Second Sunday, which features family-fun activities and performances from 1 - 4 PM. From December 26 - 31, the High will host storytimes and art-making activities each day from 1 - 4 PM for Winter Art Break. Throughout December, visitors may also donate a new children's book or purchase one in the gift shop to be donated to the High's book drive to benefit metro Atlanta's Sheltering Arms Early Education and Family Centers. The Woodruff Arts Center's seventh Free Family Festival will take place on November 27 from 1 - 4 PM as part of the CREATE ATL: Family Fun at The Woodruff Arts Center initiative. This incredibly special holiday-themed festival will feature family-oriented programming led by the ALLIANCE THEATRE, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and High Museum of Art. Families will enjoy exclusive performances of Atlanta Symphony Orchestra music and Atlanta Ballet Youth Ensemble dances from The Nutcracker, learn about multicultural holiday traditions through art-making and storytelling and even meet Santa's reindeer!
