Aurora Theatre has assembled the best children's performers in the region, bringing them to Gwinnett County in order to give parents and their children a chance to experience their artistry in our amazing facility in downtown Lawrenceville. This year Aurora Theatre will offer a tremendous variety, with more shows than ever before, and many exciting new performers as well as audience favorites. The slate of performances for this August is a perfect example - featuring a juggling and unicycle duo, puppets and traditional dance from India.

School is back in session and so is Aurora Children's Playhouse with three dynamic performances this August. On August 20, Aurora Theatre welcomes back Quite A Catch, the dexterous juggler Ron Anglin, for The Ron J Show. This show pairs Ron with nimble expert unicyclist Jimmy Robertson. The two man show is packed with clever stunts and amazing feats of skill that highlight teamwork, discourage cheating, and dispel stereotypes in a fun and unique way.

August 27, All Hands Productions returns to Aurora Children's Playhouse with a puppet show that boasts an 8-week run of over 100, virtually sold-out, performances at The Center for Puppetry Arts. Master puppeteer, David Stephens' production of Billy Goats Gruff and Other Stuff retells classic fairy tales as well as telling a few of his own original tales. See what happens when three billy goats try to cross over a bridge belonging to a greedy troll in The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Parker Pig encounters some good luck when he stumbles over a watering can in The One Little Pig and the Three Wishes; a retelling of a family favorite. One of Stephens' original stories, The Two Farmers, involves Farmer Frick and Farmer Frack and how they learn to work together to make a pot of stew.

Aurora Children's Playhouse offers a unique treat Labor Day weekend welcoming Sasikala Penumarthi is the Founder and Director of the Academy of Kuchipudi Dance Inc. for Kuchipudi: Telling a Story Through Indian Dance. This beautiful and unusual combination of dance and drama takes its name from the village where it was popularized during the 14th and 15th centuries. Dressed in the traditional Kuchipudi costume of shimmering patterned silks and jingling ankle bells, Sasikala mesmerizes students with her mastery of the form's intricate footwork, flowing movements, rhythmic syllables and dramatic facial expressions. Children will get their chance to combine key gestures and movements to help Sasikala tell a story from Indian lore.

The Aurora Children's Playhouse series features: puppeteers, magicians, storytellers, jugglers and musicians intended for youngsters to have their first theatrical experiences. At about 45 minutes in length, perfect for the young attention span, these lively performances are fun for the whole family. Aurora Children's Playhouse performances are held on select Saturday mornings at 10AM unless otherwise noted.
