The show that revolutionized musical theatre is opening Atlanta Lyric Theatre's 35th anniversary season. It is time to introduce your family to the wonders of live theater with the magic, the mystery, the memory of CATS, playing August 8 - 24, 2014 at the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre (548 S. Marietta Pkwy., Marietta). Tickets are available by calling 404-377-9948 or by visiting www.AtlantaLyricTheatre.com.

CATS opened on Broadway on October 7, 1982 at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City. It continued to live up to its motto "Now and Forever" by becoming the longest running musical on Broadway on June 19, 1997 after 6,138 performances. CATS ended its 18-year run on September 10, 2000 after 7,485 performances. It remains the second longest-running show in Broadway history, after its record was broken by The Phantom of the Opera on January 9, 2006 when Phantom celebrated its 7,486th curtain.

Based on T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, and with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, CATS won seven 1983 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Lighting, and Best Costumes.

With direction by Ricardo Aponte and choreography by Jennifer Smiles, CATS is still revolutionary and awe inspiring.

The Lyric cast features local artists Shawn Megorden, Nick Hagelin, Jen MacQueen, Ansley Van Epps, Jeremy Varner, Alison Brannon Wilhoit, Robert Wayne, George Deavours, Bonnie Harris, Jamie Lea Keener, Jason Cohen, Fenner Eaddy, Natalie Rhae Goodwin, Cassandra Mora, John Streit, Brian Dixon, Jennifer Arnold, Rex Glover, and Pablina Lopez.

The design team features Music Directors Laura Gamble and BJ Brown, Scenic Designer Edward R. Cox, Costume Designer Benjy Gault, Lighting Designer Andre C. Allen, Sound Designer and Production Manager Robert Johnston, Make-Up Designer Mary Nye Bennett, and Hair and Wig Designer George Deavours.

Now that it has been seen by millions of audience members worldwide, it is time to celebrate with the whole family and create a special 'memory' one more time. Tickets for CATS are priced from $22 - $57. For reservations and information call (404) 377-9948 or visit www.AtlantaLyricTheatre.com.
