off the WALL productions closes its 2014-15 season with the Pittsburgh premiere of THE WHALE, a big-hearted and fiercely funny story of broken relationships, despair, hope and reconciliation. Set on the outskirts of Mormon country, Idaho, Charlie is a six-hundred pound recluse hiding away in his apartment eating himself to death. With his health failing steadily, Charlie is at a decision point: will he live out his life alone, or will he muster the strength and courage to rebuild lost relationships? In a desperate attempt to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Charlie reaches out to her, only to find a viciously sharp-tongued and wildly unhappy teen. THE WHALE is a compelling and poignant story of a man's last chance at redemption, and of finding beauty in the most unexpected places.
