UNIQLO, the global clothing retailer, has opened a pop-up store in the 14thStreet-Union Square subway station in Manhattan. The store will be open through the holidays and is the perfect location for New Yorkers to grab their favorite UNIQLO winter gear on-the-go as gifts or to treat themselves. As an added bonus, shoppers will get a $5 Metro Card in a limited-edition sleeve with any purchase.

The shop will feature UNIQLO's innovative, high-quality winter clothing for men and women, starting with the very lightweight and warm Ultra-Light Down jackets, followed by fleece and then the popular HEATTECH innerwear. It is located at the east end of the Union Square station near 14th Street and is directly opposite the 4, 5, 6 train lines.

"At UNIQLO, we are always looking at how we can bring new and exciting shopping experiences to our customers, and we believe New Yorkers will enjoy the opportunity to shop for cold weather clothing in the subway before they have to head out into the winter weather. This shop fits perfectly with our strong belief in the fundamental power of clothing to improve people's lives, and our hope is that it will provide people with comfort and warmth during the winter season," said Larry Meyer, COO of UNIQLO USA.

"Pop-up stores will provide a fresh and beneficial element to our stations while also improving the image and desirability of retail space in the subway," said MTA chairman and CEO Thomas F. Prendergast. "This is another example of the MTA working to make better use of its real estate portfolio and improving the subway environment for customers at the same time."

This October and November, UNIQLO is also opening ten new mall stores in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and California including stores opening soon in Brooklyn, Long Island and Staten Island. In addition, customers can shop online 24/7 at UNIQLO.com, which will debut a new look and new interactive features this fall, and can download the new UNIQLO USA app for access to behind-the-scenes videos, current employment opportunities, "weekly favorites" and a store locator.
