Thaddeus O'Sullivan to Direct Jessica Chastain, Vanessa Redgrave in THE SECRET SCRIPITURE

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Thaddeus O'Sullivan has signed on to direct Jessica Chastain and Vanessa Redgrave in the upcoming film adaptation of THE SECRET SCRIPTURE, based on the novel by Sebastian Barry.

THE SECRET SCRIPTURE follows a 100-year-old woman who has been a patient at a mental hospital since WWII. The facility is about to close, and in going through the patients' cases, a psychiatrist attempts to figure out why the woman is there. Little do they know that she has hidden a diary detailing her struggles under the floorboards.

Chastain and Redgrave will portray younger and older versions of the woman.

O'Sullivan's directing credits include the Emmy-winning Into the Storm, as well as The Heart of Me.

Chastain's upcoming big screen projects include Miss Julie, Interstellar, Crimson Peak, The Zookeeper's Wife and A Most Violent Year. She recently appeared in The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, Salome, Mama, Zero Dark Thirty, The Help, The Tree of Life and more. Chastain starred on Broadway in 2012's The Heiress, opposite Dan Stevens.

Redgrave's recent screen projects include the TV series The Black Box, Call the Midwife, Nip/Tuck and more. Her film credits include Lee Daniels' The Butler, The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh, Anonymous, Coriolanus, Letters to Juliet, Atonement and more. Redgrave has appeared onstage in Broadway's Driving Miss Daisy, The Year of Magical Thinking, Long Day's Journey Into Night, Orpheus Descending and The Lady from the Sea, as well as off-Broadway's The Revisionist, Antony and Cleopatra, Vita & Virginia and more.
