Photo Flash: 'Xanadu' Rings NASDAQ Bell Nov.6
The Broadway company of Xanadu was proud to ring the closing bell at the NASDAQ Stock Market on Tuesday, November 6 at 4PM.
Attending were: Kerry Butler, Cheyenne Jackson, Tony Roberts, Mary Testa, Jackie Hoffman and author, Douglas Carter Beane. Joining them were the show's producers, Robert Ahrens, Brian Swibel, Tara Smith and Cari Smulyan.
It took place on Times Square, Broadway and 43rd Street and the giant NASDAQ sign featured a welcome to the show in addition to broadcasting it live with closed caption. Proving that Xanadu is always a good investment, everyone at NASDAQ was happy that the market closed on a high.
"This musical myth, set in the year 1980, tells the story of one of the nine muses of ancient Greece who comes to earth to inspire the greatest of artistic achievements a roller disco. Along the way she falls in love, bumps into an Old Acquaintance and for the first time, feels the desire to create herself," according to press materials.
Starring Kerry Butler as "Kira," Cheyenne Jackson as "Sonny," Tony Roberts as "Danny" and Jackie Hoffman and Mary Testa as the evil Muses "Calliope" and "Melpomene," respectively, Xanadu's cast also features Curtis Holbrook, Anika Larsen, Kenita Miller and Andre Ward.
