Next Stop Broadway, the #1 performing arts training camp in South Florida raises the bar with its newest masterclass, Broadway to Hollywood!

The masterclass occurred on Monday, June 26th, 2017 and the camp brought in the biggest names in Broadway and Hollywood, Kamille Upshaw and Carlie Craig. Upshaw, an ensemble member of Hamilton on Broadway, flew down right after a performance to teach a dance masterclass to the Next Stop Broadway teen project, ages fourteen to eighteen. The teens learned an exclusive musical number from Hamilton, and were also able to speak with Upshaw personally, asking questions about the industry and understanding the ins and outs of Broadway and musical theatre.

"This was awesome," Don Jeanis, 18, said after the class. "I learned so much and it only made me more focused on what I want to do."

Carlie Craig, a series regular on the reboot MadTV, is an alumni of the Center for the Arts and Next Stop Broadway Summer Camp. After ending her tour with YouTube and Broadway sensation Todrick Hall, she was cast in the hit TV show shortly after alongside many of the original cast members. Leading an improv workshop, Craig worked with the Next Stop Broadway teens on career development, character techniques, auditioning and finding an agent, and improv techniques from Groundlings, a famous improvisation troupe.

This masterclass was included in the Next Stop Broadway Teen Theatre Project, where over a six-week intensive, the students will learn musical theatre techniques and deliver a full-stage, full production musical of The Lion King on the Coral Springs Center for the Arts stage. There are over seven performances from August 1st - 4th, culminating with a private agent scouting and talk from NY Broadway Agent, Julianna Lichtman, from Clear Talent Group. She represents the best in Broadway and TV, and will offer the students an insight into what agents look for, how to properly acquire an agent, how to stay current in the industry, and maintain your craft.

The Next Stop Broadway Teen Theatre Project invites everyone to watch the beloved musical, The Lion King, at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, August 2nd and 3rd at 2pm, and 4th at 7pm. Tickets are $18 per person at the 7pm show and $9 per person for the 2pm matinee shows.
