New Music USA Selects ALT for NYC New Music Impact Fund Cohort

New Music USA and American Lyric Theater (ALT) introduces the inaugural cohort of the NYC New Music Impact Fund. The Impact Fund, a new project of New Music USA, represents the first major effort to aggregate and amplify the voice of the New York new music community online. It supports new residency relationships, provides general operating support, and leverages New Music USA's online platform to share events and news with a growing fan base.

Lawrence Edelson, Founder and Producing Artistic Director of ALT commented on the three-year grant, stating, "We are honored to be the only opera company selected to be part of this innovative new initiative. Support from the Impact Fund will enable ALT to continue mentorship of eight Resident Artists, working on four new operas under the umbrella of the Composer Librettist Development Program. With the support of New Music USA, and many other generous funders, ALT has provided personalized, intensive mentorship to 38 Resident Artists, developed 15 short chamber operas, and commissioned nine full-length operas over the past ten years. We look forward to collaborating with other members of the cohort as we work toward our common goal of creating exciting and engaging new music in New York City"
