Jim Steinman's BAT OUT OF HELL musical is headed to the UK stage. Based on the best-selling Meat Loaf album, the show will premiere at the Manchester Opera House this winter before moving to the London Coliseum in summer 2017.

The Dail Mail reports that Jay Scheib is directing the show.

Scheib told the Mail that Steinman originally saw the album as "a futuristic adaptation of Peter Pan." The director added, "It was always meant for the stage; and this really works like an opera." He said the show is about "never growing up. And never getting old. And always being in love! That's rock'n'roll."

Benjamin Purkiss and Christina Bennington are among the actors who have auditioned for roles; they will likely appear in the musical.

BAT OUT OF HELL, running February 17 to April 29, could also include new songs, in addition to some tunes from Steinman's subsequent 'BAT' albums.
