The Movement Theatre Company [TMTC] will present Wilson Revised, A Celebration of August Wilson on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 2:00pm at the Studio Museum in Harlem. Wilson Revised is the third event in the TMTC Harlem Nights series, and will be hosted by the Studio Museum's Target Free Sundays. The event is free and open to the public.

Inspired by the Studio Museum's upcoming exhibit The Bearden Project, Wilson Revised examines the importance and impact of August Wilson, a playwright who was strongly influenced by Bearden's artwork. For this event, TMTC will present a selection of excerpts from Wilson's 10-play Pittsburgh Cycle, as well as short new works influenced by Wilson's plays and written by Colman Domingo, Dominique Morisseau, Christina Anderson, Keith Josef Adkins and Christine Jean Chambers.

The Bearden Project, is a celebration of the artist Romare Bearden, who was deeply involved with the founding of The Studio Museum, and whose work remains at the core of their collection. In observance of the centennial of his birth, the museum has asked a number of artists to create a work of art that is inspired, influenced, instigated, or informed by the life, work, and legacy of Bearden. The exhibit is now open and runs through March 11, 2012. The Studio Museum in Harlem is the nexus for artists of African descent locally, nationally and internationally and for work that has been inspired and influenced by black culture. It is a site for the dynamic exchange of ideas about art and society. For more information about The Studio Museum and The Bearden Project visit www.studiomuseum.org.

Founded in 2007, The Movement Theatre Company is dedicated to developing new works by artists of color and producing work that highlights both the collective and diverse human experience. Celebrating its fifth year as a company TMTC has launched TMTC Harlem Nights, the newest series, which partners with local Harlem businesses to present free theatrical events in non-traditional spaces. These events are geared to bring people from the Harlem community and all over NYC to experience what Harlem businesses have to offer and meet new artists. Funding for TMTC Harlem Nights is made possible by the Harlem Arts Alliance, Harlem Community Arts Fund.

The presentation of Wilson Revised will begin at 2:00pm in the Studio Museum's Exhibition Gallery (144 West 125th Street). Admission is FREE.
