Frans Swart, the chief executive officer of Lefra Productions, where the idea of a national review competition arose, is very excited about the project, observing that many schools spend a great deal of time, money and energy on revues within the context of school productions. With Swart observing that many of these revues approach a professional standard, Lefra productions decided to create an opportunity for these revues to have a further life, while also creating a platform for schools to enjoy each other's work. While REVUE 2016 is a competition, Lefra Productions believes that schools, teachers, coaches and pupils should use the opportunity to make new friends and to learn from each other.

With great cash prizes worth more than R50 000 up for grabs, each entrant will receive a certificate of participation. There is also a great treat for the winning primary and high school's revue organisers, who will each win a cabin for two on the 2017 Oppiwater Arts Festival, which sails between Cape Town to Namibia

REVUE 2016 is presented with the kind cooperation of Meat World , which will act as the main sponsor. Meat World has 12 branches across the country. Angelino Perreira , the managing director of Meat World said that the nature of REVUE 2016 as a youth development initiative make is a very good project in which to be involved. With Meat Word viewing South Africa's youth as the future of the country, the company will also sponsor R25000's worth of meat for the winning primary and high schools to use for their feeding schemes. Other key role-players in bringing REVUE 2016 to life include McCarthy Volkswagen Arcadia and Playboy Unisex Intercoiffure.
