For children who grew up in the 1960s laughing at Don Knotts' portrayal of Deputy Barney Fife on the classic television comedy, "The Andy Griffith Show," his daughter's tribute to her father just might be the must-see event at the Gallo Center for the Arts this season.

Karen Knotts brings her one-woman show, "Tied Up in Knotts," to the performing arts center at 2 pm on Sunday, October 5. Tickets are $12, $15 and $25, and may be purchased online at www.galloarts.org, by calling (209) 338-2100 or from the Gallo Center ticket office at 1000 I Street in downtown Modesto.

"Tied Up in Knotts" is partly a coming of age story set in a celebrity world. Karen Knotts tells stories about her legendary dad and his famous co-stars, while also performing a blend of improvisation, music and clean comedy in an animated style. One critic described the show as "a loving, joyous celebration of growing up with Don Knotts."

Says Karen of her show: "When my father passed away in 2006, I wanted to pay tribute to him in the way I knew him best: as an amazing, loving dad. It's true that Don was a great actor on stage and screen with five Emmy Awards to his credit, but I try to capture the essence of the man himself, because I always thought he was funniest when he was just being himself."
