The New Season, a series of concerts at Birdland featuring top Broadway performers, continues on Monday, June 6th at 7pm with Christine Andreas in "Love Is Good." The series is presented by Jim Caruso, in association with TheaterMania.com.

Best known for her work on the Broadway stage, Christine Andreas burst onto the New York theatre scene starring as Eliza Doolittle in the 20th Anniversary production of My Fair Lady opposite the Royal Shakespeare Company's Ian Richardson and garnering the Theatre World Award. Ms. Andreas received two Tony nominations for her work as Laurey in Oklahoma at the Palace Theatre, and as Frankie Frayne in On Your Toes, directed by the legendary George Abbott. Ms. Andreas also created the role of Marguerite St. Just in the Broadway production of The Scarlet Pimpernel opposite Douglas Sills and Terrence Mann.

Christine's cabaret runs at The Cafe Carlyle and The Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel led to her West End debut starring in the Martin Silvestri musical, The Fields of Ambrosia, at the Aldwych Theatre in London. This was followed by concerts in London, Paris, Rome and The White House, culminating in the release of her CD "Love Is Good." Andreas and Silvestri's second CD collaboration, "Here's To The Ladies," was recorded in London with a 45 piece orchestra, and was selected by USA Today as one of the top 10 CDs of 2002. The following year, USA Today once again honored Ms. Andreas by choosing her latest recording, "The Carlyle Set," a sophisticated new CD of contemporary standards recorded with a quartet of New Yorks' most oustanding musicians, as one of the top ten CD's of 2003. She recently returned from six sold-out performances in the Jazz Series at Kennedy Center. The show at Birdland will include standards such as "Fly Me To The Moon," "They Say It's Wonderful," The Music That Makes Me Dance," "Storybook" from Scarlet Pimpernel and several original tunes.

Liz Smith was moved to write, "Christine Andreas is everything anyone who loves romantic pop music could want." Her Carnegie Hall debut was hailed as 'brilliant', 'delicious' and 'sexy' in Variety.

Birdland has been a world-class music room on the Manhattan nightclub scene since 1949. Jazz superstars Sarah Vaughan, Count Basie, Dinah Washington, and more recently Ann Hampton Callaway, Diana Krall, John Pizzarelli and Tito Puente have all performed on the Birdland stage. The room offers top-flight music in a world class setting, good sight lines and acoustics, and a menu featuring award-winning Southern cuisine, available until 1am. Most recently, it's become the home of Cast Party, the weekly Monday late night showbiz gathering featuring impromptu performances by the Broadway, jazz and nightclub crème de la crème.
