BWW Reviews: Adam Pascal Rocks Long Island's Tilles Center

I had the pleasure of seeing Broadway vet Adam Pascal in concert at the Tilles Center on the Long Island University Post Campus. The cabaret style show was held in a separate, cute room to the side of the grand concert hall with a high stage and seating that reminded me of a mini half-stadium. He is currently touring in support of his latest album, Blinding Light, and is accompanied by the wonderfully talented Larry Edoff (they tour under the name Me and Larry).

Mr. Pascal started off with an endearing song he wrote for the arrival of his son called "Beautiful Song". It was indeed a beautiful song off his 2004 album Civilian. Then the Long Island native performed a fantastic rendition of every New Yorkers anthem, Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind".

For his next selection, and an audience favorite, he chose "Johanna" from Sweeny Todd. Continuing a semi-themed Stephen Sondheim set, Mr. Pascal also performed "Not a Day Goes By" from Merrily We Roll Along and a wonderful rendition of "Maria" from West Side Story.

From Blinding Light, a collaborative effort with Mr. Edoff, he performed "Fade Out" and "Single Drop of You". At this point, Mr. Edoff then performed a stunning song from his album Duende entitled "Love Will Always Come Back".

For one of the last performances, Mr. Pascal selected one of his audition songs, U2's "Red Hill Mining Town". And to finish up his hour set, and very much to the audience's approval, he performed "One Song, Glory" from Rent, his signature role.

In between performances, Mr. Pascal told little tid-bits from his stage and recording career. He incorporated some stories that included his buddy Jesse L. Martin and made light of a troubled solo show. Overall, everyone was really excited to see Adam and Larry and both delivered splendidly.
