Published every Monday morning, BroadwayWorld Cabaret writers will pick their top recommendations for shows throughout NYC during the upcoming week.

AMANDA MCBROOM: VOICES (CD RELEASE)

Few voices lend themselves to "love and loss and laughter" as well as Amanda McBroom's, bright but full of tenderness and melancholy. What a gift, then, is her new album, VOICES, rich with stories and McBroom's magnetism. Along with her musical director and frequent writing partner Michele Brourman, the songwriter makes her Birdland debut to celebrate the new work. Monday, June 5 at 7:00 PM, Birdland Jazz. - Ashley Steves

Feinstein's/54 Below will celebrate its fifth anniversary on 6/5 with two performances.

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW 5TH ANNIVERSARY ALL-STAR CELEBRATION

Once you've become a major star of stage in New York, how do you find a space that allows you to simultaneously craft a show of your liking, get up close and personal with your audience, and feel welcome and at least? For the past five years through 4000+ shows, the superb sublevel Feinstein's/54 Below has provided that space, opening its doors nightly for up-and-comers, leading lads/ladies, solo shows, concert performances, and small stagings. The venue celebrates 4000+ performances with two more on Monday night. Laura Benanti, Michael Feinstein, Liz Callaway, and Joe Iconis are just a few of the big names on the guest list. Monday, June 5 at 7:00 and 9:00 PM, Feinstein's/54 Below. - Ashley Steves

JOHN KELLY SINGS JONI MITCHELL: DOWN TO YOU

If you take away a show's set and costumes and theatrics, you should still be left with an evening of great music. If that's not the intent of John Kelly's DOWN TO YOU at Joe's Pub, it's certainly the outcomE. Kelly strips down his acclaimed tribute to the music of Joni Mitchell in a bare bones concert showing, putting the spotlight where it should be: Mitchell's rich, brilliant career and Kelly's powerful vocals. Tuesday, June 6 at 7:00 PM and Friday, June 9 at 9:30 PM, Joe's Pub. - Ashley Steves

Tim Minchin will play at Feinstein's/54 Below this week, 6/7 and 6/10.

TIM MINCHIN

Give Tim Minchin a break already (no, seriously). The award-winning composer of the smash hit MATILDA and this season's Tony-nominated GROUNDHOG DAY has been very busy at work across multiple continents. In March, after he found out the film he had been working on for the past four years got scrapped, he threw a not-so-pitiful party, GETTING DRUNK AND PLAYING BALLADS, to chip away at some of the melancholy. He returns for two more performances at Feinstein's/54 Below. If misery loves company, it's best to pull up a chair. Wednesday, June 7 at 9:30 PM and Saturday, June 10 at 11:30 PM, Feinstein's/54 Below. - Ashley Steves

MICHAEL FEINSTEIN: ELLA ON MY MIND

The incomparable Michael Feinstein has gone big with the final JAZZ & POPULAR SONG concert of the season, paying tribute to the "First Lady of Song," Ella Fitzgerald. A tribute to Ella could take a week just to cover the sheer magnitude of her talent, life, and catalogue, but Feinstein is an expert at turning around a taut but thorough performance, smart and compelling with something for the novice and expert alike. Jessie Mueller (WAITRESS, BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL), Vuvo Sostashe, Nicole Henry, and the Tedd Firth Big Band join Feinstein in this dynamic season finale. Wednesday, June 7 at 7:00 PM and Thursday, June 8 at 7:00 and 9:00 PM, The Appel Room (Jazz at Lincoln Center). - Ashley Steves

ROBBIE ROZELLE: SONGS FROM INSIDE MY LOCKER

The life of a theatre fan, particularly a young theatre fan, can be difficult. Sing a showtune too loud and you might end up in a school locker. Robbie Rozelle knows this experience too well, and, thankfully, with a little help from his friends (Kander, Ebb, et cetera), lived to tell the tale. Already the director/creator of several successful solo shows (Jessica Vosk, Melissa Errico, Kate Baldwin), Rozelle is taking over the Feinstein's/54 Below stage for his solo debut with a "treasure trove [of] songs that got him through a blistering high school experience." It's sure to be in with the not-so-cool cool crowd. Friday, June 9 at 9:30 PM, Feinstein's/54 Below. - Ashley Steves
