The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce has announced that it has raised $10,200 as part of its "Brooklyn Eats Cares" campaign to help the hungry this holiday season.

"We are excited to be able to collect food and give this money to the six food pantries we have partnered with," said Carlo A. Scissura, President & CEO of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. "The generosity of people from Brooklyn and beyond to our campaign is a great way to help those less fortunate than ourselves during this special time of the year. Thank you to the New York Business Development Corporation Foundation and to everyone who donated to 'Brooklyn Eats Cares' this year. A big thank you also goes out to our partners: Assemblyman Joe Lentol, National Grid and the Alliance for Coney Island."

The campaign's biggest donor - New York Business Development Corporation Foundation - made six $1,000 donations to coincide with the Brooklyn Chamber's Winter Gala on December 18 where Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and former Brooklyn Chamber Board Chair Phil Stenger were honored.

"In recognition of the service, compassion and innovation of Borough President Markowitz and Phil Stenger, I'm pleased to announce these six gifts of $1,000 each to local Brooklyn agencies helping to fight hunger in the community," said NYBDC President and CEO Pat MacKrell. "As we work with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to help small businesses grow and hire more people, it is always critical to remember the most vulnerable in our communities and do what we can to help them, as well."

In addition, the Brooklyn Chamber raised $2,100 at its Winter Gala when it raffled off two business class tickets to Europe courtesy of Delta Air Lines and a $500 gift card courtesy of Macy's.

Aside from the food that was collected, the money raised will be given in equal parts - $1,700 each - to the following food banks:
