Anthea Thompson in
MY BRIJLANTE EGSKEIDING

Geraldine Aron's MY BRILLIANT DIVORCE has been produced worldwide since its debut in 2001, including a production featuring British comic legend, Dawn French. Now for the first time in South Africa, and in Afrikaans, MY BRIJLANTE EGSKEIDING will star Anthea Thompson.

In Engela van Tonder-Strydom's head, she and Manie are happily married. It is true that the marriage has somewhat lost its rosy glow, is less passionate than everyday and is more focused on the children than their relationship but nonetheless, Englea is happy.Until Manie returns from a business trip and packs up his things instead of unpacking his suitcase. Before Engela knows what hit her, he runs down the stairs, through the front door and out of her life.

Anthea Thompson, who plays Engela, has appeared in productions like A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, ELIZABETH, CABARET, INTO THE WOODS and THE SHAKESPEARE REVIEW, winning Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards for all of those productions. She won an Aardklop Best Actress Award for MOOI MARIA and recently appeared onstage at the Baxter in Christiaan Olwagen's acclaimed production of A DOLL'S HOUSE.

MY BRILJANTE EGSKEIDING is translated, adapted and directed by Hennie van Greunen, who is known for his work on SHIRLEY VALENTYN, DIE NAAIMASJIEN, RONDOMSKRIK and JANNEMAN.

MY BRILJANTE EGSKEIDING will be performed at the Drostdy Theatre in Stellenbosch on 1 and 3 June at 19:30. Tickets, costing R120, can be reserved by email.
