Atlanta's nationally acclaimed ALLIANCE THEATRE will present the children's classic, Charlotte's Web, today, February 23 through March 10, 2013 as part of its Alliance Stage Family Series. Introduce your children to the kind of theatre magic only found on the Alliance Stage. Rosemary Newcott, the Sally G. Tomlinson Artistic Director of Theatre for Youth and Families, directs the heart-warming tale of Wilbur the Pig and Charlotte the Spider, whose clever planning saves him from becoming bacon.

While remaining true to the story and familiar characters, the Alliance's version of Charlotte's Web will uniquely incorporate circus stunts and acrobatics in the production. Charlotte will be performed by a trained aerialist and will glide above the stage on fabric curtains. Other skilled performance elements included are juggling, unicycle riding, tumbling, contortion, clowning - and more!

"The idea was born out of the fact that the young protagonist, Fern, is the one who converses with the animals - no one else. The audience shares in this magic." said Rosemary Newcott, Director. "And if we believe they can talk - why might they not also have other sensational qualities. Plus, the County Fair is such an anticipated spark of excitement in a child's life. We simply expanded the "fantastic" element of the Fair into the barnyard as well."

Charlotte's Web will delight old and new audiences with vivid characters and enduring themes of friendship that inspire in a way that only live theatre can.

The cast for Charlotte's Web includes Danielle Deadwyler as Charlotte. Danielle last appeared at the Alliance as August March in the family production The Real Tweenagers of Atlanta: The Final Assembly. In his first return to the stage since becoming the ALLIANCE THEATRE's Director of Educational Programs, Christopher Moses will join the cast as Wilber. Other cast members include Anna Caudle as Fern, Andrew Crigler as Templeton the Rat and Rob Lawhon as the Narrator.

On March 2, the Woodruff Arts Center Galleria will transform for FAMILIES Centerstage - a family fun fair with live performances, arts, crafts and music for the whole family to enjoy! Confirmed participants for this year's event include the Center for Puppetry Arts, Zoo Atlanta, and Milton High School's Cirque Program. Tickets for FAMILIES Centerstage include admission to either the 1:00 pm or 4:00 pm performance of Charlotte's Web, with the festival happening in between. Presented by Cartoon Network and global consulting company North Highland, tickets for FAMILIES Centerstage support the education program at the ALLIANCE THEATRE. Tickets are available at www.alliancetheatre.org/familiescenterstage.
