On Wednesday, November 29, the Ms. Foundation for Women hosted "Laughter is the Best Resistance," its 22nd Comedy Night at Carolines on Broadway in New York City. "Laughter is the Best Resistance," featured standup from leading women comedians - in addition to a short performance from Ms. Foundation Founding Mother, Gloria Steinem.

During her standup set, Ms. Foundation Founding Mother Gloria Steinem compared the current administration to the French Revolution to raucous applause. Additionally, she joked: "When a reporter asked me what I would say to [First Lady] Melania Trump, I said I'd tell her 'I have a guest room.'"

In keeping with the event's theme of finding humor in resistance, Ms. Foundation President and CEO Teresa C. Younger asked audience members to practice putting up their middle fingers while on bicycles, just in case they happen to pass the Presidential motorcade.

The Comedy Night, created by Ms. Foundation founding mother Gloria Steinem and Caroline Hirsch in 1989, celebrated the grassroots movement to advance gender equity in the U.S. and has featured some of America's most talented comedians. Proceeds from the event support funding, training, and advocacy for women-led grassroots organizations that promote and protect reproductive healthcare access and choice, workplace advancement and quality childcare, and women's safety.

The full list of performers included: Gloria Steinem, Ms. Foundation Founding Mother; Teresa C. Younger, Ms. Foundation President and CEO; Ashley Nicole Black (Full Frontal with Samantha Bee); Jena Friedman (Adult Swim's 2018 The Jena Friedman Show, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Late Show with David Letterman); Judy Gold (The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Showtime's I'm Dying Up Here, host of Kill Me Now with Judy Gold podcast); Jen Kirkman (Jen Kirkman: Just Keep Livin?, I Can Barely Take Care of Myself, I Know What I'm Doing and Other Lies I Tell Myself); Dulcé Sloan (The Daily Show with Trevor Noah), and Liza Treyger (Glittercheese).
