Come From Away is a Tony Award-nominated musical by Canadian writers Irene Sankoff and David Hein, telling the true story of 38 grounded flights and 7,000 stranded passengers welcomed by the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, following the events of September 11, 2001. This Western Canadian premiere is directed by Arts Club Artistic Director Ashlie Corcoran and marks one of the first non-replica productions of the musical following its acclaimed Broadway and international runs. The production features a versatile ensemble including Vance Avery, Daphne Charrois, Lisa Michelle, Charlie Gallant, Caitriona Murphy, Kamyar Pazandeh, Garett Ross, Andrew Wheeler, Tenaj Williams, and Stephanie Wolfe, among others. The score blends folk, Celtic, and contemporary sounds, and the production is presented in partnership with the Citadel Theatre, with plans to travel to Edmonton following the Vancouver run.
