THE KING'S GRIEF at Redeemer Lutheran Church

The Happenstancers present Judith Weir's micro-opera King Harald's Saga, expanded to concert-length with a multi-act structure, featuring soprano Reilly Nelson portraying 5 characters across 3 acts. Additional works by Thomas Adès, Oliver Knussen, Thierry Tidrow, Mary Dering, John Dowland, and others serve as incidental music punctuating Weir's tragic narrative of King Harald Hardrada's failed invasion of England in 1066. New songs by composer Thierry Tidrow, commissioned for this programme, reconfigure the work of Baroque composer Mary Dering, pairing the vocalist with new instrumental groupings. The ensemble features Reilly Nelson, Julia Mirzoev, Peter Eom, Brad Cherwin, Declan Scott, and Joonghun Cho.
