Small phrases blossom into statements of grand, poetic power in Brahms's fourth and final symphony, a monument to the composers mastery that incorporates intricate techniques of Bach and the baroque era. A child prodigy, world-class pianist, and trail-blazing composer, Clara Schumann is one of 19th-century musics most remarkable and fascinating figures. She wrote her Piano Concerto at the age of 14 to showcase her own virtuosity, and its the perfect vehicle for the enormous talents of Toronto-born pianist Tony Siqi Yun, gold medalist at the first China International Music Competition in 2019. Conductor Emeritus Peter Oundjian leads these performances, which begin with Spotlight Artist Samy Moussas atmospheric Nocturne.

Single tickets to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra's previously announced 2021/22 season will go on sale September 16, for concerts through to February 2022. Single tickets for the remainder of the season will go on sale at a later date when there are updated capacity limits during the winter/spring months. The first half of the season will feature shorter concerts with no intermission and works selected for smaller ensembles to allow for distance on stage.

His season offers works of orchestral adventure that will appeal to Toronto audiences known to embrace a broad range of musical and artistic experiences. The TSO is entering its 99th season, and Gustavo Gimeno is the first new Music Director in 15 years.

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) concludes its 2018/19 season with musical fireworks as Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki plays Mendelssohn, Donald Runnicles conducts Carmina Burana, Steven Reineke leads Modern Broadway, and star Canadian violinists James Ehnes and Jonathan Crow display their astonishing virtuosity with works by Korngold and Sibelius. The last concerts of the season are a foretaste of the TSO's musical future with incoming Music Director Gustavo Gimeno conducting the suite from The Firebird.
