Heaven at The Theatre Centre

Heaven is a contemporary dance work choreographed by Sasha Ivanochko, performed naked and without music, rooted in the idea of heaven as a site of union and exploring the tension between connection and isolation through the body. The 20th anniversary remount features performers Jessie Garon, Scott McCabe, and Sully Malaeb Proulx, with lighting design by James Proudfoot, remount consultation by original dancer Louis Laberge-Côté, and intimacy coordination by Anisa Tejpar. Originally premiering in 2006 at the Harbourfront Centre to critical acclaim, the work toured for six years and is now revisited in dialogue with its seminal legacy and a new generation of dancers. The run includes six performances and is accompanied by professional-level workshops, artist talks, and facilitated conversations exploring pedagogical lineage and the history of nudity in dance.
