Richey Suncoast Theatre (6237 Grand Boulevard) invites aspiring performers ages 13–18 to step into the enchanted world of Beauty and the Beast during its upcoming RST Kids Musical Theatre Summer Camp, running July 14–18, 2025. This immersive weeklong experience offers young artists the chance to explore the magic of musical theatre through acting, singing, design, and performance.
From 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day, campers will engage in dynamic workshops that build confidence, spark creativity, and foster collaboration. The week culminates in a special showcase performance for family and friends on Friday, July 18, at 2:30 PM, followed by an optional pizza and karaoke celebration.
RST’s Beauty and the Beast Summer Camp Highlights Include:
- Comprehensive Acting Lessons: Dive into character development, scene study, and advanced performance techniques.
- Musical Theatre Training: Learn vocal techniques, character interpretation through song, and musical staging.
- Theatre Games & Ensemble Work: Strengthen acting skills and teamwork through fun, interactive games.
- Intro to Stage Combat: Safely explore the basics of stage combat to enhance dramatic storytelling.
- Theatrical Design Projects: Collaboratively create sets, costumes, and props inspired by Beauty and the Beast.
- Improvisation & Imagination: Expand spontaneity and storytelling through advanced improv exercises.
- Grand Finale Showcase + Optional Pizza & Karaoke Party

The Richey Suncoast Theatre, a non-profit originally built in 1925 and named after silent film star Thomas Meighan, opened in 1926. It added sound in 1930 but closed in 1934 due to the Great Depression. Reopened in 1938, it became a community theatre in 1972.
