THE WORLD GOES 'ROUND Extends at Florida Studio Theatre Through 6/29

By popular demand, Florida Studio Theatre has extended the run of the hit show The World Goes 'Round, featuring music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Filled with humor, romance, drama and non-stop melody, this revue is a thrilling celebration of life. The World Goes 'Round will be playing in the Gompertz Theatre through June 29. Subscriptions to FST's three-show summer season may be purchased for as little as $39 online at www.floridastudiotheatre.org, at the box office on the corner of Palm and Cocoanut or by calling the box office at (941) 366-9000. Single tickets to The World Goes 'Round range from $18 - $36.

The World Goes 'Round opened to rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. Jay Handelman of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune praised the revue, saying, "The show has the feel of a celebration that just wants to make sure we can keep discovering and enjoying the wit and beauty of Kander and Ebb." Kay Kipling of Sarasota Magazine said, "There's only one way to feel about it: good." Audiences attending the show have been similarly impressed: "Amazing," "Best show of the season," "The cast is so talented, and it looks like they are having a lot of fun!"

The World Goes 'Round is about the fighting spirit that keeps us all going. Composed by John Kander with lyrics by Fred Ebb, this show is sure to be a clever and joyous celebration of life. The revue features the songs "Mr. Cellophane," "Maybe This Time," "Cabaret" and "New York, New York."

The revue features a cast of five performers: Carey Anderson, Taprena Michelle Augustine, Lauren Blackman, Zak Edwards and Peter Gosik will all be making their FST debuts. Edwards performed in the national tour of Young Frankenstein, 42nd Street at Merry-Go- Round and The World Goes 'Round at Riverside. Gosik has done national tours of both The Wizard Of Oz and We The People, as well as Les Miserables at Riverside. Augustine's credits include Book of Mormon on Broadway, Frankenstein, and Litter Shop at the Barter. Blackman has performed in Singin' In the Rain at The Maltz Jupiter and Legally Blonde at both Maine State and the Westchester. Anderson has credits in All Shook Up at Artpark, The Spitfire Grill at Falt Rock and Baby at the Broadway Palm.

Gabriel Barre director of The World Goes 'Round is also making his FST debut. He has recently directed at Goodspeed, Connecticut Rep, Seattle Rep and Portland Stage, as well as a few national tours. Barre is joined by Music Director Frank Lindquist, Choreographer DJ Gray, Scenic and Costume Designer April Soroko and Lighting Designer Rob Perry.

The World Goes 'Round will continue in the Gompertz Theatre through June 29. Single tickets range from $18 - $36. A subscription for all three of the Summer Season shows ranges from $39 - $49.
