Officer Marcus Moscowicz, a small-town policeman aspiring to be a detective, seizes the chance to solve the murder of Great American Novelist Arthur Whitney when the writer is shot at his own surprise birthday party. With the nearest detective an hour away, Marcus, along with his silent partner Lou, must solve the case before the real detective arrives. Suspects range from Arthur’s wife, Dahlia, to the prima ballerina Barrette Lewis and the overly-friendly psychiatrist Dr. Griff. In MURDER FOR TWO, two performers hilariously play 13 roles, including the piano, in a 90-minute, music-filled homage to classic murder mysteries. Don’t miss this killer musical comedy!

June 05, 2025 STAGES St. Louis has a hit with their zany Muder for Two. Director Michael Kostroff keeps the fun coming for the entire 90-minutes in a fast-paced audience pleasing comedy. The script is goofy and the lyrics witty, but it is the comedic physicality of two immensely talented actors, singers, pianists, and entertainers who fearlessly earn every laugh. Ian Fairlee and Jeremiah Ginn make a sharp comedic duo who mine plenty of giggles, chortles, guffaws, and thigh-slapping laughter.

May 08, 2025 The STAGES St. Louis season opens at the end of May with the hilarious musical whodunit Murder for Two. A famed novelist is killed at his surprise birthday party and everyone attending is a suspect. A small-town police detective, piano playing Marcus Moscowitz, arrives to investigate and question all 12 suspects. The 12 suspects are all played by one piano playing actor. The zany music-filled murder mystery unfolds as Detective Moscowitz interviews the eccentric party guests. STAGES St. Louis artistic director Gayle Seay knew she had to find the perfect team to lead this madcap comedic thriller. Casting two actors who are piano playing virtuosos, plus standby actors for each role was hard enough, but she immediately knew who she wanted to direct. Enter Michael Kostroff.

STAGES St. Louis is the region’s foremost not-for-profit company committed to preserving and advancing the art form of Musical Theatre through excellence in performance and education. In 2021, STAGES celebrates its 35th Anniversary Season of producing Broadway-quality theatre, presenting 140 performances from June through October to nearly 50,000 patrons. STAGES employs the best Musical Theatre artists available regionally and nationally for all productions. By holding auditions in St. Louis and New York, STAGES is able to attract not only Broadway talent, but also further its commitment to support professional St. Louis actors and artists, providing nearly 450 union work weeks annually. In 2014, the number of union work weeks exceeded 500 as STAGES began production in an additional venue. The re-launching of the overwhelmingly successful 2013 production of Always… Patsy Cline added 144 performances, and reached nearly 25,000 additional patrons. In addition to being the top regional employer of local union actors, STAGES educates thousands of students each year at its Performing Arts Academy, the region’s only year-round arts school with a comprehensive curriculum run by a professional theatre company.
