Shakespeare Schools Festival South Africa - George at George Community Arts Theatre

The Shakespeare Schools Festival South Africa (SSFSA) returns for its 16th season, bringing youth-driven Shakespeare productions to the George Community Arts Theatre from 11 to 13 September 2026. Student performers, many taking the stage professionally for the first time, transform full-length plays into sharp, 30 to 45-minute productions that keep Shakespeare's stories accessible and relevant for today's audiences. Each school brings its own interpretation, style, and voice to the stage, spanning classic tragedies to comedies, with no two performances alike. Beyond the performances, the festival supports learners through masterclasses and workshops led by theatre professionals, building skills in confidence, teamwork, and creative thinking.
