Roméo et Juliette at Artscape Theatre

Cape Town Opera presents Charles Gounod's operatic adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, directed by Marcus Desando and conducted by Kamal Khan with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. The production stars Brittany Smith as Juliette and Lukhanyo Moyake as Roméo, alongside Nonhlanhla Yende, Conroy Scott, Nica Reinke, Dumisa Masoka, Msimelelo Mbali, Thandolwethu Longo and Riaan Hunter. The opera follows the star-crossed lovers from their meeting at a masked ball through secret marriage, exile and tragic misunderstanding to their final reunion in the tomb. Sung in French with English and isiXhosa subtitles.
