Conductor Daniel Raiskin CPYWE Curtain-raiser Charlene Verster Conductor James Swearingen Blue Ridge Saga Soloist Jordan Brooks (violin) Pärt Cantus in memoriam Benjamin Britten Britten Violin Concerto, Op. 15 Schumann Symphony No.3 in E-flat Major, Op. 97, “Rhenish” The second concert in the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra's Spring Symphonies at the City Hall features the young South African violinist, Jordan Brooks. An award-winning artist with growing international recognition, Jordan is the First Prize winner of the Joseph Bologne International Violin Competition (2025). He previously won First Prize in both the Strings Category and the Commonwealth Final of the Royal Over-Seas League International Competition (2024), which led to his debut at Wigmore Hall. He is a student at the Royal College of Music on full scholarship.The conductor, Daniel Raiskin, has served as Music Director of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Principal Conductor of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2024 he was appointed Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Janácek Philharmonic Ostrava.
