The second concert in the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra's Spring Symphonies season features Conductor Daniel Raiskin and violinist Jordan Brooks in a concert with Pärt's Cantus in memoriam Benjamin Britten; Britten Violin Concerto, Op. 15; and Schumann's Symphony No.3 in E-flat Major, Op. 97, “Rhenish”, It begins with a curtain-raiser by the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensemble conducted by Charlene Verster. The young musicians will perform Swearingen's Blue Ridge Saga. Daniel Raiskin has served as Music Director of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Principal Conductor of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2024 he was appointed Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Janácek Philharmonic Ostrava. An award-winning artist with growing international recognition, Jordan Brooks is the First Prize winner of the Joseph Bologne International Violin Competition (2025). He previously won First Prize in both the Strings Category and the Commonwealth Final of the Royal Over-Seas League International Competition (2024), which led to his debut at Wigmore Hall. He is a student at the Royal College of Music on full scholarship
